Alright so this is my face fresh out of the shower with only a light SPF moisturizer on! As you can tell my face is very red and uneven and I do have one giant blemish at the moment, but nothing to worry about. First off you need to buy a primer!
For right now I'm using Physician's Formula's green correcting primer. I haven't really noticed that big of a difference from the green tint so I think if you just used a regular primer you would be fine, just something that's going to hold your makeup in place. I just place this in my T- zone and cheeks like so..And then just GENTLY rub this into your skin. Now I put the emphasize on gently because red skin tends to become even more red when rubbed so we want to avoid this as much as possible. After that's all rubbed in you want you use a green correcting concealer, particularly one with high pigmentation.
Again I use Physician's Formula. This stuff works wonders.. It's very highly pigmented so a little goes a long way which is great and it has great coverage! Yay!
I squeeze a little bit onto my finger and then just place small dots wherever the most redness is, mostly on my cheeks. Again, you need to gently rub this in but this time with a more of a patting motion. Make sure you're not tugging on your skin!
And now you're the hulk!!! This may look strange to you, I know. But if you look past the fact that your face is completely green you can see that neutralizing effect it already has on your face. This works because red and green are across each other on the color wheel. Who cares though, as long as it works! Next its time for foundation. Full coverage foundation is going to be your best bet to a flawless face, but if you can't stand full coverage foundation then just go ahead and stick with your favorite :) I'm going to use Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation in shade 1C1 Cool Bone.
I just pour out a penny size amount onto the back of my hand and then place dots all over my face.
Then to, again, GENTLY blend this out I use It Cosmetic's buffing foundation brush (found at ULTA) to buff my foundation in.
Remember, gently.. ;) I know Erin! But this is very important to make sure you don't irritate your skin to make it more red than it was to begin with. A sponge or stippling brush would work perfect too, you just want to make sure you're getting as much coverage as possible. And the result.. Tada!
Now this part is completely optional, it would be totally fine to stop right there! But I like more of course.. Next I conceal my under eye triangle and any blemishes still poking through my foundation. I use NYX HD concealer in CW 01, just a few shades lighter than my skin tone. Another extra step is to finish off with a setting powder. It would be perfectly fine to use a translucent powder just to set everything but I love my Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 003 Natural. I just think it gives me a little extra coverage and it makes my face stay matte for longer.
Again these are totally optional and add ons, it's just what I personally think works best for my skin! Now I went on to finish the rest of my makeup and this is what it looks like :)
Before I learned how to do this there would be redness peaking through at the apples of my cheeks and below my cheek bone line which just looked a little funky with the rest of my makeup. Now it looks smooth and lets the makeup I worked so hard on really take the spotlight!
I am a new person after this transformation! This may seem like a lot to some, but really it's only a few extra steps and for me its completely worth it. I hoped this helped some of y'all, I know I could have used some help! Let me know if y'all are struggling with any other things! :)
