DIY: Lip Scrub!

I think its pretty much a universal desire to have soft and luscious lips. And I don't know about y'all, but mine are not always the most moisturized! I put lip balm on every night before I go to bed and occasionally in the mornings. The problem is I usually forget to bring a lip balm or chap stick with me! I'm probably the only one who does that..

Because I wear lip stick often my lips dry out more than normal. I try my hardest to keep them moisturized but sometimes I could just use some extra help. So I decided to make some lip scrub :) You can buy lip scrubs at Lush or Ulta and probably other places as well, but I made one for a little over $1. That's pretty reasonable if you ask me!

Things you'll need:
A small container. I couldn't find any plastic ones so I just got this glass one, it's about the size of a baby food jar! I found this at Hobby Lobby for $1.13 and its the only purchase I had to make for this project :)
A small bowl
A spoon.. Pretty obvious I know ;)

A tablespoon and teaspoon
Any sugar. I used regular granulated sugar and it works just fine, but I actually think a sugar with bigger crystals would work better! This is just what I had on hand at home.
Any brand of honey you desire.
Olive oil
Vaseline.. aka petroleum jelly which I just think sounds gross.. But this is the Kroger brand and it's super cheap so who cares!
And if you would like to drop some food coloring in (I suggest pink or red) to make it look prettier then you can I just didn't happen to have any!

Steps to luscious lips:
First you need to add about 2 tablespoons for sugar to your bowl along with 1 tablespoon of the honey. Don't mix the mixture just yet though because the honey is too thick to mix. Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and then mix all together. It should look like this
Next add 1 teaspoon of Vaseline (this step is optional but adds more nourishment to your lips) to the mixture and mix up completely. I doubled this recipe, can I call it a recipe..? Anyways I did double it just so that it would fill my container more, but if you choose a smaller container you won't have to double it! Just spoon the mixture into your container and you're all done!

How to use:
Just apply a small amount to your lips and work it in a circular motion. You'll feel the sugar exfoliating your lips. Do this for about 1-2 minutes. Then just rinse with warm water and pat dry. Finish your lips off with your favorite lip balm or chap stick. My favorite is Nivea's Lip Butter in Caramel Cream Kiss.
This stuff works so good and it smells so good I usually end up wishing it was real food so that I could eat it!

I use this lip scrub twice a week to keep my lips feeling soft but I feel instant results just after one use! This is a very cheap, quick, and easy must have product! I hope y'all try this DIY lip scrub and love it as much as I do :)
